Founded upon the same core principles and commitment to excellence, the AKS Elite Baseball Program (AKSEB) will do for baseball what AKSIL does for soccer. Players will receive professional-quality coaching, play in top-tier baseball facilities with the highest-quality equipment, and will have the values of dedication, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair-play instilled in them from the first practice.
We are proud to announce that this program will be spearheaded by our new baseball coordinator, Mike Gottlieb, who has an unsurpassed baseball pedigree. After being a high school standout in Palm Beach Gardens Florida, Mike went on to play 4 years of Division 1 Baseball at the University of North Florida for Hall of Fame Coach Dusty Rhodes. After completion of his distinguished college career, he was forced to cut his career short due to an unfortunate arm injury. Since moving to Shanghai in July of ‘09, Mike has coached the SAS Puxi Varsity Baseball Team, conducted private training lessons throughout the city, as well as played for and helped coach the Shanghai Eagles professional team. He is looking forward to using his vast baseball knowledge to provide his players with a world-class baseball experience in Shanghai.
The AKSEB team will play according to the rules and standards set out by Little League Baseball. This means that they will be eligible to play in tournaments throughout, China, Asia, and even North America. In fact, they will be able to participate in the Little League World Series if they qualify at the China Guangzhou tournament.
Eligibility for this program is for players 9-12 years old and will be determined by a set of mandatory try-out practices conducted in the fall. Exact scheduling will be announced soon.
