Looking good on-the-go with a little athleisure

For both kids and parents alike, dressing up in sports casual is always chic but at the same time, so comfortable. Easy to wear and quick, you'll always look good no matter what you do.

Why you need it

As the summer heat drifts away, your kids will be spending all their time cartwheeling through the grass and climbing up trees in the crisp, autumn air. As fun as it is for them, it’s less fun for mom and dad who have to deal with all the holes in their jeans and tears in their dresses. That’s where sports casual comes in: the combination of sporty and chic, so your little one can tumble away while still looking great!

Think trendy sneakers, lightweight windbreakers, baseball tees and joggers. You’ll also be seeing lots of color blocking in a neon revival – bright colors, funky patterns and breathable fabrics are the way to go.

What to look for

Go for pieces in palettes that pair well with closet staples, like black leggings, or white athletic tees. Also, don’t be afraid to go for bold designs. T-shirts with oral or camouflaged prints are all the rage right now, and bring a fun, young energy to your children’s (or even your) look. Finally, a sturdy pair of casual athletic shoes will go miles – literally.

How to wear it

Playground fun: A playfully printed tee, teamed with a light denim skirt or shorts, and comfortable sneakers will keep your kids running for hours. Alternatively, a cozy hooded sweater dress worn with trendy tube socks works great for a lunch date after the park.

Weekend air: Dress your boys (or girls!) in a bomber jacket over a funky-printed buttoned down, paired with chinos, or jeans, and high-top sneakers. For the ladies, opt for a chic tennis skirt instead of pants.

Birthday party: For active parties, you’ll want your kids to feel comfortable moving around. A go-to look for girls is a pair of colorful printed leggings with a soft, jersey tee. For a little European air, boys can go for a cowl neck sweatshirt coupled with a pair of solid-colored shorts.
