2019-2020 Art & Writing Competition

Dear parents, guardians, and caregivers!

We are excited and thrilled to announce this year's Shanghai Family and Parents&Kids annual Art & Writing Competition!

Every year for more than ten years, Shanghai Family and Parents&Kids have been putting on a competition to encourage all children living in Shanghai to stretch their creative muscles and improve their writing skills.

Just last year, we received over a thousand stunning pieces of art from all over Shanghai under the theme of ‘Shanghai Postcard’. The top 100 artworks were then chosen by the public and put up for exhibition at our 2019 Award Ceremony.

In celebration of their work, we invited our young artists and their families, as well as school leaders and art teachers to join together for a charity lunch at our 2019 Award Ceremony on the 14th April 2019.

In recognition of the current environmental concerns affecting our planet, our theme this year will be ‘Eco Future’.

We invite all children aged 3 - 15 to participate in either our art competition or our writing competition for the chance to have their work exhibited at our 2020 Award Ceremony.

For the art competition, children can choose to either draw/sketch/paint a piece of artwork or make a model/ sculpture using recycled materials depicting how they envision a greener, more sustainable world. For the writing competition, children should write a letter to the mayor of Shanghai with their suggestions on how we can make Shanghai more eco-friendly and why they think this is important. For fairness' sake, the competition will be separated into two age groups: 3 - 10 and 11 - 15.

The most popular artworks will be chosen once all the entries have been collected – date TBC. These pieces will then go on to charity auction according to individual participant wishes.  

All submissions are due by 30th January 2020.
