It's a casual modern Italian restaurant designed as a high end cafe on the first floor, leading to a refined theater experience on the second floor. Opened at the beginning of 2022, Il Teatro is a project from the veteran Shanghai hospitality group C.V.L. (Concepts - Victuals and Libations).
Il Teatro makes its pizza dough from top quality imported Italian flour and lets it sit for 12 hours before baking it at 400 degrees in the famous Moretti Forni oven imported from Italy. The result is crispy, chewy Napoli-style pizza crust that is easy to digest due to using less yeast. The restaurant also hand makes its own pasta along with its own desserts, like the classic tiramisu, maritozzo, and bombolone. Top it all off with a glass of reasonably priced Italian house wine starting at 50 RMB, or choose from the over 100 wine options.
Speaking of wine, the second floor event space frequently hosts wine tastings and tutorials. The fully equipped room fits around 30 to 40 people. For larger gatherings, the evening dining area, also on the second floor, can be converted from refined theater dining to an event space for around 80-100 people. Il Teatro also boasts a front patio that is great for people watching and a pet-friendly outdoor garden with retractable roof in the back.
